GV-1240-8 and GV-1240-16 are combo cards providing not only a video capture card but also a built in DSP display board and an audio input board. The DSP display board displays real-time (30fps) video on all cameras and an ancillary composite video-out port through which defined camera images can be sent to a secondary composite monitor. The DSP does not affect recording speeds. The number of audio inputs is equal to the number of video inputs. The other primary difference between the GV-600, GV-800 and the GV-1240 series of video capture boards is the speed. GV-1240 series boards have real-time display (30fps/camera) and recording speed of 240 frames per second, allowing real-time viewing with recording speeds of up to 30 frames per second per camera. When critical applications call for full motion video, the GV-1240-8 will provide 30fps per camera and the GV-1240-16 will provide recording speeds of between 15 and 30fps per camera. Software is basically the same as for the GV-600 and GV-800 series.
These PCI compatible, add-in video capture boards will record full color 320x240, 640x480 and 720x480 CCTV camera image. Attached CCTV security cameras can be all color or all B/W or a mixture of both. Local (server) software is Windows 2000 and Windows XP compatible and remote software is Windows 2000, XP and NT compatible. Local and remote versions are provided. The local (server) software can only be run on one system, while the remote software can be run on an unlimited number of systems. The remote software can be run on computers in a Local Area Network (LAN) using TCP/IP protocol and in remote systems connecting with a direct modem connection, high speed line and/or over the Internet. Recording is accomplished when motion is detected in any camera field (or continuously or at preset times).
A MPEG4-like compression codec provides smaller frame and recorded file sizes than standard MPEG4 or wavelet. Remote transmission speeds are also increased with the new MPEG4 codec. Decompression and playback of MPEG4 recorded files requires more processor power than similar wavelet compressed recordings and playback quality can be quite choppy unless a computer with processor of sufficient power is used.
